Imagine a political system where all of us can thrive.
Politics has long been a place for men, but in the 21st century, we need our governments to represent and reflect us.
We believe that it’s our time to lead.
Let’s elect more people that represent us.
Let’s help women and gender-diverse leaders RUN, WIN, LEAD.

Our story
Today, Canada sits in 65th place globally for gender representation in federal politics: Our federal representation remains steady at around 30%. The progress made over the past three election cycles in 2015, 2019 and 2021 has stalled.
In 2019, a small group of four women came together and launched it as Her Time to Lead to create a public conversation around how we demonstrate our support for progressive women in politics. In 2025, we see the urgency in ensuring that leaders with integrity, strong values and commitments to serving in our political system are as prepared as possible. In 2025, we find ourselves asking tough, challenging questions about how we can strengthen our democracy and build more trust into systems that were never designed for us.
We know the challenges are immense: more and more elected leaders experiencing harassment and threats of violence. More and more women and people of colour saying no thank you to public leadership. More and more Canadians are choosing to disengage from politics and choosing not to vote. With trust declining through our institutions and efforts still underway to recover from the constant ongoing local and global crises, how does an organization whose focus is on women and gender-diverse people’s leadership push forward?
We want to see over 40% representation of women and gender-diverse people elected nationally and across 7 provinces and territories by 2030. This year, as we come up to another critical moment, we’re asking how we can all ensure that it is Our Time to Lead.
This year, we are returning and connecting with a small and nimble group across the country to ensure that women and gender-diverse candidates know that in a time where politics needs integrity, that their efforts are not going unnoticed and that they are valued. As we approach our next federal election cycle, we are here to actively champion women! Our focus for this year’s efforts will be on experimenting with new supports, and to learn as we go to build the tools and skills for women to deepen their political and community-building practice.
We hope you’ll join us.
